ATTENTION NEEDED : Your Products on Trosworld

Dear valued customers,

As you may know, your success on Trosworld means everything to us. At the same time we also want to ensure that your buyers are well served whenever they visit Trosworld and eventually your store for their good shopping experience.

For your kind attention, we have been working on Trosworld 2.0 behind the scenes for quite some time now which we promise will bring exciting improvements and features that will not cost you any extra by the end of 2011.

One of our many focuses is to improve product searchability and the purging of out dated and expired items to keep Trosworld’s products stay fresh, new or latest in version. To achieve this we need your kind cooperation and time to run a check on your store’s products based on the following aspects:-

1. Are your items still available in stock?

Some of your items may no longer be in stock and this could frustrate your buyers due to wasted time spent on browsing at your store. You might even lose them forever.

2. Has your item expired?

To those who are selling seasonal food items (mooncake 2010 or earlier series), pets (they can get older), fragrance/perfume (expired or outdated) we advise you to have a second look at your items either to update them or purge them. Nobody wants their store to look like it belongs to pre-war era.

3. Is your Product Title SEO friendly?

What this means is that buyers find it hard to look for your product if it is merely titled as AAA001 or in gibberish; which does not make any sense to the search engine when buyers key in proper keywords relating to a product that they are looking for. This kind of mistake is normally seen committed by those selling Apparels, Premium Gifts and Accessories etc.

4. Double check your business location

Some smart buyers prefer to look for items that are near to them to save on delivery costs. In the coming Trosworld 2.0 we will allow buyers to filter items based on sellers’ location (state). For example; if you are selling flowers, fresh fruits, foods & beverages, please take a moment to check your business location information on your store to make sure that the little piece of important information is correct. Trust us; it can make a lot of difference to how your buyers may perceive you for their shopping needs.

5. Have you verified your business yet?

If you were a buyer, who would you trust more when buying online? The verified merchant or the one who did not bother to get himself verified? In Trosworld 2.0 we will make this a compulsory requirement before they start their business in order to ensure that the integrity of our sellers on Trosworld is the highest and plus point.

If you are one of the early birds (open store in 2009) please take the time to submit your necessary documents for us to verify your business failing which we might have to temporarily suspend your business.

We hope you appreciate the importance of the above message because online business IS SERIOUS BUSINESS contrary to what some people might think. Thank you for your support and kind cooperation. All the best!

Sync Your Products from Your Store with TrosKaKi is getting better and easier!

We have discarded auto post on your Facebook and Twitter function while you are filling up long description of your products before publish them onto your store, and we moved the function to View Products page, where you can see the whole list of your products.

This function is to enable you always share the same product again and again with just a click, without going to Edit Product and then re-post again. This also minimized the loading time for each product upload.

+1 button, recommendations when you want them.

Google is now adding social features to their search results, its take on the “like” button which is called the “plus-one” – is in its latest bid to make search more social.

The +1 button is shorthand for “you should check this out” or “this is pretty cool” already embedded onto each of product page on Trosworld, so users can vote, and ultimately improve the ranking of that content in organic search results.

With plus 1 function, users are allowed to vote +1 on search results they find interesting and useful, and to share that preference with their network in Gchat, Gmail, Google Reader, Buzz and, very soon, Twitter.

It will be easier to find something when you can get recommendations for the things that interest you, right when you want them in your search results. Just make sure you’re signed in to your Google Account while doing your search.

“When someone recommends something, that’s a pretty good indicator of quality,” said Matt Cutts, Google’s principle engineer for search. “We are strongly looking at using this in our rankings.”

“Injecting a social layer into the algorithmic search is key to relevance,” said Dave Karnstedt, CEO of Efficient Frontier. “Do a search on ‘DVD player’ today now you will see 35,000 results in less than 3 milliseconds. It’s meaningless, but if you can sort through those by people who have given a social signal and those rise to the top, I think that can only enhance the user experience.”

Microsoft’s Bing integrated Facebook “likes” into search results late last year but not into its actual algorithm, meaning a “like” has no affect on search rankings. Google has no immediate plans to add Facebook connections to the system, partly because they don’t have the right to do so. “It would depend on whether that data were available,” Mr. Cutts said.

“Its important for Google to bring in social influence into search results to prevent the social web from becoming a parallel universe,” said Bryan Wiener, CEO of 360i, a unit of Dentsu. “I do think they need to have the Facebook ‘likes’ in there because you’re going to have two webs, the social web and the open web.”

Over time, Google will integrate the plus-one into the search algorithm itself so human votes will have an impact search ranking.

Audio is no longer available in your store starting next week!

We were told by the International Federation of Phonographic Industries (IFPI) and Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) that some of our merchants are uploading pirated mp3 files as their store background musics.

The IFPI targets two groups: “people who are uploading infringing material onto the Internet commonly in the MP3 format — to be downloaded for free or for payment; and Internet service providers who may be hosting illegal Web sites and ignoring warning letters informing them that these sites are infringing copyright.”

Due to the abovementioned infringement by some of our merchants we will no longer allow audio files to be uploaded starting next week. This is to avoid unnecessary problems with the IFPI, which could cause our site to be shut down.
